All courses and workshops are held at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre


Bonsai course for beginners on November 14 and 15, 2018

This theoretical course, offered in English,  will cover bonsai fundamentals which include a portion on traditional Japanese design and a portion on the horticultural aspects in our climate. On completion of this course, participants will have the essential knowledge required to begin to develop bonsai for our climate zone.  Lecture notes will be provided.  Cost of this course is set at $20 per person for OBS members and $35 for non-members, to be paid at the start of the course.

  • Wednesday November 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. :  Esthetic of the Japanese approach.
  • Thursday November 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. : Horticulture and techniques.

Make your own bonsai or kusamono pot!

When: Saturday, October 27 and November 3rd, 2018 from 9 am to 4 pm (and Nov. 10 and 17 if necessary)

Jean-Claude Lévesque is inviting you at his place to create your own pot under his guidance. You will be manipulating clay to craft a pot that reflects your own vision. All the material is provided: the clay, glazes and the use of a kiln for the firing.  Come and try your hand at this by reserving your place at info@ottawabonsai.ca or with Jean-Claude at jclevesq@gmail.com.    For the workshop to take place, a minimum of 4 participants must be registered.

Cost: $80. Bring your own lunch   The Studio is at: 56 Mont Luc, Gatineau.

 


 

Open workshop(s);   dates to be determined

Those bilingual workshops are held at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre. Members bring their own tree or trees to work on with the help of an experienced member.  Participants can get help in performing repot, wiring or styling, or simply receive advice. There is no need to register in advance to participate in those workshops and there is no cost for members.
