All courses and workshops are held at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre

Course and workshop on deciduous leafy trees on Tuesday April 21st and Wednesday April 22nd

This course/workshop is intended for all levels of enthusiasts who want to explore the development cycle of deciduous leafy trees as well as the method and the timing for pruning this group of trees. Members can choose to be full participants by bringing a tree and participating to the workshop or simple observers at both the theory and workshop portions.

This course/workshop will be given on two evenings and comprise theory and practice on both evenings. There will be a limit of 10 participants bringing trees but no limit to the number of observers.

The cost for observer will be $25 and for full participants, $35.

Dates: Tuesday April 21st and Wednesday April 22 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Open workshop(s);  Monday May 4 and May 11th 2020 from 6:30 to 9:00

Those bilingual workshops are held at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre. Members bring their own tree or trees to work on with the help of an experienced member.  Participants can get help in performing repot, wiring or styling, or simply receive advice. There is no need to register in advance to participate in those workshops and there is no cost for members.


Bonsai development workshop Tuesday May 5th 2020 from 6:30 to 9:00

During the workshop, participants will receive assistance from experienced OBS members to begin developing their own bonsai using a pre-bonsai plant. The plant material, a suitable pot, the tools and the necessary supplies will be provided. 

The cost is $80.

Conference by Matthiew Quinn May 15th

Matthiew Quinn, curator of the Penjing collection at the Montreal Botanical Garden, will give a lecture on advanced principle of aesthetics on Friday May 15, 2020 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This lecture is free for all members and does not require a registration.


Workshop directed by Matthiew Quinn May 16th

Matthiew Quinn, curator of the Penjing collection at the Montreal Botanical Garden, will run a workshop on Saturday May 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The workshop is intended for intermediate level enthusiasts and is limited to 8 participants. Participants will provide their own tree(s) and are strongly encouraged to participate in a wiring practice session ahead of the workshop.

The cost of the workshop is $85 (non-refundable) and registration will only be accepted with payment.
